POOL OPENINGS

Preparing your pool before our arrival.

In order for us to complete your pool opening as efficiently and effectively as possible, and to avoid any additional charges, please review and complete the following checklist:

  • Turn on outside water and have a standard garden hose available. Expandable hoses are too light to be left running in your pool as they may fly out and cause a flood. They also restrict flow and will take a long time to fill your pool.

  • Ensure breakers for pool equipment and outdoor receptacles are turned back on, if turned off for winter.

  • Prepare access to equipment, parts and chemicals, solar blanket, cover storage area, etc. Techs are not instructed to rummage through sheds or garages to find items.

  • If you fill your pool by truck, please arrange with your water company. If your pool cannot be filled by the following day, please notify us immediately so we do not make an unnecessary trip.

  • Nature II/Duoclear cartridges should be replaced once a year. If you wish for us to bring out and install a new cartridge, please contact us prior to your pool opening.

  • Provide a package of yard waste bags for disposal of leaves from pool cover. If bags are not available, we will use our stock at a charge of $1.50 per bag. Leaves are left on site for your regular collection day.

For owners with...

  • Salt Water Systems

Please leave the cleaned cell near the equipment to be re-installed. The salt system will not be started unless your pool is above 65 degrees. Please have your salt level tested after pool has reached 65 degrees.

  • Cartridge Filters

Please leave cleaned filter(s) near the equipment to be re-installed.

  • Sump Wells

Please ensure you pump out at least 72 hours prior to pool opening.

  • Variable Speed Pumps

All programming should be over-ridden and the pump should be left on high speed until the pool is clear. Our service staff will be programming the “speed 4” button to remain on high speed for 12 hours (maximum allowable programmed time). The pump will then revert back to its original programming. If the pool is not clear, press the “speed 4” button every 12 hours until the pool is clear.

  • Lock-In Vinyl Winter Covers

These covers must be stored in water with algaecide/cover cleaner to prevent shrinkage and mold. We will fold your cover, put it in the bin you supply (large plastic garbage can 120L size will work for most covers) and leave you the remainder of the cover cleaner. Please move the bin to an appropriate location to store for the season and add the cleaner and water.

Our pool opening price does not include the following and these items will be itemized separately on your invoice, if they are required:

  • Parts and labour for pool repairs and equipment leak repairs
  • Pool chemicals, including balancing chemicals and additional cleanup chemicals
  • Gas pool heaters require a certified gas technician and will be invoiced separately by the contractor
  • Any additional cleanup required, ie. pool being dirty or green, cover falling in, etc.

We do our best to complete the pool opening in two consecutive days, but bad weather, equipment repairs and really big clean-up jobs can mean the task takes a bit longer.

Your pool opening includes...

DAY 1 We take care of the dirty work

  • Pump off cover, empty water bags, remove leaves
  • Remove and clean cover, water bags
  • Fold cover & water bags
  • Clean waterline & in-wall stairs, inside skimmer
  • Clean ladder, diving board, slide
  • Sweep deck area where cover sat & rinse with customer’s hose
  • Remove plugs from returns, skimmer
  • Install eyeballs, backwash hose
  • Install ladder(s), handrail(s), diving board, slide and pool light(s)
  • Install plugs, lids, gaskets on filtration system
  • Skim pool surface
  • Clean up leaves and garbage from pool opening and leave for customer for disposal
  • Take water sample

DAY 2 We flip the switch

  • Check all plugs, gauges, clamps on filter system
  • Prime pump & start up pool
  • Skim pool surface
  • Brush down pool floor, pool walls and provide a light vacuuming (if required)
  • Fill chlorinator/brominator or put pucks in skimmer (if available)
  • Add chemicals as per water analysis printout (if requested)

This checklist constitutes the maximum we do, not all pools require all steps.  No discounts apply for work not performed that is not applicable or product/equipment not available on specific day.

Excessive leaves will constitute extra charges for removal.  Every effort will be made to clean your pool however; we will not be responsible for waterline accumulation that has not been cleaned on a regular maintenance basis.  Light vacuuming of pool may not remove all debris. This is due to style of pool cover, settling after pool is brushed down during addition of pool chemicals and/or debris falling in pool from surrounding vegetation, rain run-off, etc.
